Hi, I'm Yi-An. I graduated OCSA this year and will be attending University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
I created Steamport aiming to bring to others an experience I wished was available when I was younger—an earlier exposure to the mechanics behind how things fly or why things glow, alongside an open space to explore these questions (... the dream of a girl who spent her elementary school years constructing things on the kitchen floor with whatever she could find in the recycling bin, garage storage, or, occasionally, the 25-cent section of neighborhood yard sales). With friends, I launched Steamport in 2016, investing time and effort in hopes of impact our community in an area that seemed to have been left open. I love being with the kids, making cabbage juice pH indicators, building moving models of lungs, conducting strawberry DNA extractions, and, of course, having fun. |
Hello, my name is Raphaelle Paracuellos and I am a senior at the Orange County School of the Arts. I am an honors student with straight A's who has a passion for science. Someday I hope to go to medical school and become a doctor. This is my fourth year with STEAMPORT and I love it. STEAMPORT is an amazing program to help children learn about science specifically, and it is fun for both the students and myself.

Hi! My name is Joanne Park and I am currently a high school senior attending OCSA. I love the arts and I strongly believe that science is a very eye-opening subject. Teaching little kids has always been a joy of mine, because they seem to enjoy the fact that they have learned something new. In my opinion, this program provides a great opportunity for younger students to learn educational and interesting content in a fun and supplemental manner. As a result, I am glad I can give back to my community by volunteering and teaching at Steamport classes.

Hi, I’m Kieana Shao. I am currently a senior in Canyon High School.
I have a passion for running, science, painting (particularly watercolor and acrylic), and math. Someday I would love to work in a medical setting. I love working with children and people. My goal is to help children have the same wonderful opportunities as I have! I am sincerely excited to be working with Steamport! |
Hello! My name is Romina Carballera and I am currently a senior at OCSA. From a young age I had always been interested in science and mathematics as well as dance. By joining STEAMPORT, I was given the opportunity to combine two unique and utterly different fields, the arts and academics, into something that could be taught. The variety of topics introduced in each class allows young scholars a diverse understanding of subjects that they will later be taught. Being able to provide children with skills they not only need but enjoy is something I love doing and wouldn't want to stop!

I am very passionate about all types of science and math, and love working with children. I hope to combine these passions and become a Pediatrician in the future. I am a violinist, and strongly believe that the arts and music introduced at an early age create unique electrical pathways that strengthen the brain, increasing aptitude for the STEM fields. I am always very excited to share my love and passion for math, science, and the arts with the youth of my community through STEAMPORT classes.

Hi! My name is Julia Bissonette and I am currently a junior at Laguna Hills High School. Ever since I was young, I have had a curious mind and a love for the arts. Since then, my passion for math, science, and visual arts have developed into an interest for mechanical engineering. I hope to introduce the kids in my community to the things I find fascinating about the ways in which the world works and inspire them to pursue their interests in the STEAM fields.
